Outside of obviously well-set up restaurants and hotels in cities and towns, toilets are often quite primitive and sometimes dirty. It's a good idea to bring your own tissues.
Coca leaves are not cocaine, and they are legal and common. If you don't like to chew them, try a mate de coca, the traditional hot tea steeped from the leaves. They are quite effective against altitude sickness.
